The Temecula Valley Wine Country Community Plan will focus on preserving a lifestyle as beautiful as its surroundings. Both small and large ranch estate communities of Wine Country share the magnificent backdrop of rolling hills and rich varieties of natural habitats, vineyards and groves. The residents of these rural community estates benefit from their close proximity to Interstate 15, Vail Lake, Lake Skinner, Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve and Cleveland National Forest. Beautiful parks and open areas offer a wide variety of recreational activities for all ages. Wine Country is an equestrian-lover’s delight – horse trails meander through the valley, commercial and private horse ranches dot the landscape and hitching posts are a common sight.

The Temecula Valley encompasses an area of more than 17,600 acres and includes both the Citrus Vineyard and Valle de los Caballos Policy Areas. Thousands of these acres, which feature vineyards, have assisted in the development and production of the award-winning wines produced here. Tourists may enjoy winery accommodations such as wine-tasting, guided tours, lodging, restaurants and special facilities for weddings or other events.

Directly south of the current Citrus Vineyard policy area lies Valle de los Caballos (VDC), or Valley of the Horses. It is comprised of more than 2,800 acres of large estate lots with a mixture of existing and new custom-built luxury homes and both large commercial horse ranches and small independent ranches. Property owners enjoy a rural lifestyle of horseback riding along designated trails and caring for the animals at their scenic stables. This picturesque equestrian area is an essential Wine Country destination.
